Welcome to Dry Eye Translational Research

We are a multidisciplinary initiative committed to advancing translational research in dry eye disease—turning scientific knowledge into practical tools that can improve how dry eye is understood, evaluated, and ultimately managed.

Our work connects clinical research, data science, and the experiences of patients. We aim to bridge the gap between research findings and real-world eye care by developing accessible, evidence-informed resources for patients, clinicians, and researchers.

One of these initiatives is DECODE (Dry Eye COncordance and Discordance Evaluator), a tool designed to explore the relationship between a patient’s symptoms and the clinical signs of dry eye disease. This is especially relevant because symptoms and signs do not always match: some individuals experience significant discomfort despite minimal clinical findings, while others show measurable ocular surface changes with few symptoms.

Through research and innovation, we hope to support a more comprehensive and patient-centered understanding of dry eye disease—bringing evidence closer to the people who may benefit from it.
